Steve has been working as a personal trainer since first becoming certified through the American Council on Exercise in 1997. His training style has evolved over the years as it has become increasingly clear which training ingredients are essential in order to develop elite fitness. These ingredients are regular, consistent, high-intensity weight-training with a focus on the major lifts from the sport of Olympic Weightlifting (e.g. deadlifts, bench press, clean & jerk, etc.), regular practice of the basics of gymnastics (e.g. pullups, dips, handstands, etc.), and high intensity interval work as a means of metabolic training. Steve’s interest in these modes of training lead him to learn and practice Crossfit-style programming (see CrossFit.com for details) and last Spring Steve traveled to Santa Cruz and became certified to teach it. As a result Steve’s clients not only see their training results in the mirror but measure it regularly through increased athletic performance in and out of the gym. Steve also works closely with clients to develop eating habits that support muscle growth and encourage the body to use stored fat for energy.
Steve has trained in numerous locations around Boston including Metropolitan Health Club and Mike’s Gym and worked with the Tufts University Exercise Research Department studying the impact of weight training on medical patients. Steve is thrilled to be training for the first time in Provincetown because it means he can spend more time in this awesome town. He is also currently studying to become a registered nurse and plans to receive his RN in the Summer of 2007.
